Trauma-informed practice in aged care: Practical strategies.

This webinar, held on 28 April 2021, will explored how trauma-informed care can be introduced throughout the aged care sector to better support older people affected by trauma.

A panel of trauma experts and advocates for older Australians introduced the principles of trauma-informed practice in an aged care context and discuss a range of practical strategies that individuals and organisations can consider when introducing this approach.

They also briefly presented tools and training materials that are being developed in consultation with the sector to assist residents, families, staff and management.

Trauma-informed practice in the aged care workforce: Wellbeing and self-care strategies for individuals, teams and organisations

Held on 16 June 2021,a panel of trauma experts and senior management and wellbeing staff working in the sector discussed a range of practical wellbeing strategies for individuals, teams and organisations. They also discussed a framework for managing potentially morally injurious events. Relevant tools and training materials that are being developed in consultation with the sector to assist staff and management will also be presented.
